To be shown on Feb. 27, the "Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story" will reveal what Filipinos do not really know about Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim.
"I did a lot of research, reading all the books written about him, and I also watch the movies done on his life as a revered policeman for his unprecedented campaign against criminality, particularly in Metro Manila," actor/director/producer Cesar Montano said.
"Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story" is the fourth bio-film on Mayor Alfredo S. Lim.
"With my research, I saw the real growth of Fred since his childhood," Cesar said. "Fred grew up without the necessary care from his parents. He was left by his mother at the Hospicio de San Jose. He never felt the warm embrace and the love of a mother."
Cesar added that as Fred grew up, he encountered gargantuan challenges which he met head-on. That made him a man of confidence and a crusader against crime.
"We know Mayor Lim as the nemesis of criminality, and most feared by criminals," Cesar stressed. "But we do not know about his childhood and as a young man which constitute the most touching and dramatic in his life."
With the movie, one will admire him more, according to Cesar.
Is the film intended to help in the re-election campaign of Mayor Lim? "If it helps, well and good," Cesar said. "I produced the film because I wanted to show the younger days of Mayor Lim, which are also as important as when he was already pursuing his career as a policeman."
Cesar, he stressed, is the sole producer of the movie.
"I was so fixated when I was doing the movie that there were times I failed to go home and be with my family. Then things just flew out of the window that I'm so and so with another woman. That caused much misunderstanding between Sunshine and myself. But I assure you, I will never hurt my family. Now, I am in a prayerful mode, that the movie should keep Sunshine and myself even closer to one another. I know Sunshine will always understand me, in the same way that I have always been that way with her. I love Sunshine!"
Among the major cast members of the "Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story" are: Alessandra de Rossi as Amalia Lim, wife of Fred Lim; Gina Pareño, old mother of Fred Lim, Gloria Romero, as grandmother of Fred Lim; Tirso Cruz III as Major Zosimo Maravilla; Ara Mina as wife of Gameng; Alvin Anson as a gang leader; Jackie Lou Blanco as mother superior; Marc Abaya as Charlie, syndicate head; and Isabel Granada, junior nun.
