MANILA, Philippines - More than validating the success of each entry, the total box office sales of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) confirms that it remains a much anticipated event for local moviegoers.
If last year, the MMFF reportedly finished with a total of over P636million in box office sales, the flicks in the 38th film fest this year seem poised to take in a bigger chunk. As early as the seventh day of the festival season, the total ticket sales of the top four films alone have exceeded more than half of last year's purported final earnings.
On the front line is box office director Wenn Deramas' top grossing comedy and this year's third Best Picture "Sisterakas," with its P200.1million ticket sales as of Dec. 31, according to the Office of the MMFF Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the fantasy flick that's part of the tried-and-tested Enteng Kabisote franchise, "Si Agimat, Si Enteng at Si Ako" came in at second place with P91.4million ticket sales. While the 2012 MMFF Best Picture and Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Zanjoe .Marudo, and Dingdong Dantes starrer "One More Try" raked in a good P76.6million.
On fourth spot was horror "Shake Rattle and Roll 14: The Invasion" with P30.6million sales.

Given that the MMFF rep can only release the top four box office films, the official seventh day earnings of the other entries namely "Thy Womb," "Sosy Problems," "The Strangers," and "El Presidente" are yet to be determined.
The final box office sales of the participating MMFF film's will be released when the festival ends on Jan. 8, according to MMFF.
