Miss China wins Miss World 2012; PH makes top 15

Miss China Wen Xia Yu took home the crown during the 2012 Miss World pageant held at Ordos in Inner Mongolia, China on Saturday, August 18.

Miss Wales (Sophie Moulds) and Miss Australia (Jessica Kahawaty) were declared first and second runner-up, respectively.

Completing the pageant’s top seven finalists are Miss Brazil (Mariana Notarangelo), Miss India (Vanya Mishra), Miss Jamaica (Deanna Robin), and Miss South Sudan (Atong Demach).

Meanwhile, Miss Philippines Queneerich Rehman managed to make it as one pageant’s top 15 semi-finalists.

Last year, Gwendoline Ruais was named runner-up to Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos.

The 24-year-old Pinay from Las Piñas City gained international media attention before the Miss World coronation night for her beat-boxing performance during the pageant’s talent segment.

116 contestants joined this year’s Miss World pageant.
