You might know this guy.
He’s been in the biggest pop band in the Philippines, wrote some of its most heartbreaking and anthemic songs, and now fronts another band that continues to break ground by being true to its name: Pupil.
Yes, beginning Thursday, Feb. 9, Ely Buendia will write for Yahoo! Philippines in a new OMG Y! Rocks music blog.
In his first post titled “The Sounds Family,” Ely writes a heartfelt eulogy to his record label, Sony Music Philippines, which shut its doors in January.
Ely also recalls his early days as a record company employee, calling himself “the worst” the company ever had—“and I’m not proud of it.”
“Every day, I would punch in an hour late and spend the rest of the morning snoring in my little office then leave an hour too soon for lunch (with overtime),” he writes.
“I was caught writing dozens of non-work related stuff on the computers. I used to sneak in my girlfriend during office hours. I lost the company a sizable sum when I green-lighted the release of an album whose license we did not own.”
Ely reveals more on Thursday, Feb. 9, when his blog post goes up on Yahoo! Philippines’ OMG Y! Rocks.
