Thai actor Mario Maurer finally arrived in the country on Wednesday, October 26 to do a series of activities, including a fan conference for his Penshoppe endorsement and contract signing and meetings for his Star Cinema movie.
Mario has a big following in the Philippines as P’shone, his character in the movie “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”
“Personally, today is the first time I came to the Philippines and the fans are very nice. They gave me a very warm welcome,” Mario told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and some members of the press yesterday at the opening of Bonchon Chicken in Il Terrazo, Quezon City.
Despite the big crowd that gathered to meet him, Mario kept his cool while smiling and waving to fans.
Mario rose to fame after playing lead in the film ‘The Love of Siam,’ where he won Best Actor in the Southeast Asian film category at the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival.
Did Mario expect that he would have a big fan base in the Philippines?
“I never expected it. But I know that I have many fans here because they watched my movie “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,”” Mario replied.
The movie’s Tagalized form was aired on ABS-CBN. Even before Mario clinched deals in the Philippines, he has already been communicating with Filipino fans via Twitter.
Mario will also do a Star Cinema movie with Erich Gonzales. It will be filmed in Mario’s native Thailand and the Philippines.
“It’s very exciting because doing a movie in the Philippines is my first time. It’s kind of my first step (in Philippine showbiz) here. So, I’m very excited,” Mario said.
The 22-year-old actor-model will have his fan conference for Penshoppe at PICC on Friday, Oct. 28. He will also walk the ramp at the Philippine Fashion Week for his local retail brand endorsement.
