Marian, Gerald win top honors at Golden Screen Awards

Kapuso actress Marian Rivera choked with emotion while Kapamilya artist Gerald Anderson stayed calm as they received their Best Performance By an Actress in a Drama Series and Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series trophies respectively at the 2012 Golden Screen Awards of  the Entertainment Press Society (ENPRESS), Inc. in Teatrino, Promenade Greenhills in San Juan on Friday, March 1.

Marian won for “Amaya,” while Gerald bagged his latest award for “Budoy,.” Where he played the title role.

“First time ko nanalo (ng acting award) after seven years in showbiz. Inaalay ko ito sa pinakamamahal ko na si Dong (boyfriend Dinddong Dantes),” Marian announced.

Gerald, on the other hand, offered his award “sa lahat ng mga kagaya ni Budoy.”

Neil Ryan Sese of “Munting Heredera” and Paulo Avelino of  “Walang Hanggan” tied for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,  while Helen Gamboa bagged the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award for “Walang Hanggan.”
 
ABS-CBN, which earned a total of 26 trophies, won the Outstanding TV Network award.
 
The Dolphy Lifetime Achievement award went to veteran actor-director Eddie Garcia, while the Helen Vela Lifetime Achievement Awards were given to Gloria Romero (Drama), Nova Villa (Comedy), and Mel Tiangco (Broadcasting).

The awards rites as hosted by Julia Clarete, Kim Atienza and Anjo Yllana. Among the presenters were Kris Aquino, Richard Yap and BB Gandanghari.
