Madonna reigned in the style stakes at Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVI in a glamorous gladiator get-up.
The Queen of Pop went all out to impress in an OTT stage costume that was inspired by the ancient Roman warriors. Carried in on a throne to her classic hit Vogue, there was no need to strike a pose in her elaborate outfit.
The 52-year-old wore a tight black dress by Givenchy with a gold-studded Roman gladiator skirt on top for her highly-anticipated performance at the sporting event.
Her intricate golden, diamond-encrusted headdress had been created by royal milliner Philip Treacy and made for a dramatic look. She finished off the costume with a pair of black over-the-knee leather boots and long fingerless gloves.
Meanwhile Katy Perry got into the sporty spirit by donning a cheerleader-meets-team-mascot outfit. Combining both of the battling teams’ – Giants and the Patriots - colour themes, the singer stepped out in a red, white and blue sports jacket with her surname emblazoned across the back.
Underneath, the star wore a figure-hugging blue and white mini dress teamed with one red and one white wedge trainer. Katy also added a pair of red sunglasses and an oversized football ring for good measure.
Combined with her blue hair, the outfit made for an arresting sight.
