Maalaala Mo Kaya gets International Emmy nomination

ABS-CBN’s long-running drama series “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) ” is nominated in the Best Drama Series category of the 41st International Emmy awards set November 25 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
Other nominees, as listed in the prestigious award-giving body’s official website are “ Les Revenants (Rebound) from France, Brazil’s “Next in Line,” and the United Kingdom’s “Accused.”
According to the website, this year’s nominees, which were announced on October 7, total 36 and come from 19 countries: Angola, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, New Zealand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and Uruguay.
The annual Emmys is a project of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, a 44-year-old award-giving body (founded in 1969), whose members are media and entertainment leaders from over 50 countries and 500 companies from all sectors of television, including the Net, mobile and technology.
“Maalala Mo Kaya” which has won several awards in the Philippines is hosted by ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio. It is based on stories sent by the network’s viewers. On Saturday, October 12, the program will feature the first TV team up of Angel Locsin and Paulo Avelino.
