Luis Manzano dispelled rumors that his relationship with Jennylyn Mercado is on the rocks, following speculations that the latter caused the downfall of Paolo Contis and Lian Paz’s marriage.
“Once and for all, hindi po. Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling ang isyu na 'yon. Wala pong 'labuan' issue. Kahit noong lumabas pa yung alam nating issue, never po kaming nagkalabuan, not even for a single day. So kahit ako ay nagulat na mayroon pang 'on the rocks na lumabas,’ we are still together,” Luis said at the press conference of Star Cinema's upcoming movie "This Guy's in Love with You Mare" in ABS-CBN compound on Thursday, September 27.
He added, “Para sa akin, at the end of the day, the fact that we're still together, Jen and I are okay, kumbaga iyon na iyon. Some things were blown out of proportion.”
The real truth
Luis however admitted that he contacted Lian to shed more light on the issue.
"Sa mga lumabas nga, the only truth is yes, tinawagan ko nga. Tinawagan ko talaga si Lian. Pero siyempre, kung may mga lumabas na kwento, I want to hear all sides of the story as much as possible," he said.
He also acknowledged Paolo's efforts to clear Jennylyn's name from the controversy.
"Nagsalita na si Paolo. Parang may nabasa ako na parang (nakakahiya) raw. Sa akin, enough na iyon. Hindi na nga lang sa akin, more of para ma-clear yung pangalan ni Jen..." he said.
Luis never believed the rumors linking his girlfriend to Paolo. He also didn't know where the issue came from as Jennylyn and Paolo only worked together in the TV drama "Footbulilits."
"Noong lumabas pa lang yung dati, never na akong naniwala. Hindi ko na hiningian ng paliwanag, kumbaga ganoon ako kakampante sa aspetong iyon," he said.
Wedding bells soon?
Luis thanks Jennylyn for taking good care of him and their relationship. Although their relationship has become more serious, they still have a "long way to go" before getting married.
"Sabi ko naman, we're in a very serious relationship. Pero kahit ako naman siguro, ang dami ko pang kailangang gawin bilang tao, bilang artista, bilang artista, bilang negosyante," Luis said.
Luis will be back on the big screen with "This Guy's In Love with You Mare," where he is paired with his close friends Toni Gonzaga and Vice Ganda. The movie will be shown in cinemas on October 10, 2012.
"Si Toni nakasama ko na sa ibang projects. Si Direk Wenn naman ang unang nagpaarte sa akin. Si Vice Ganda naman ang ultimate love team ko kasi sabi ko naka-limang pelikula na kami. Sa aming tatlo rin, siguro ang nagustuhan sa amin ni direk Wenn ay willing kaming gawin ang kahit ano para sa mga audiences namin, iyon siguro ang common denominator namin," Luis said.
