Like many Hollywood stars that cried foul over the recent revision on Instagram's (IG) Terms of Use, which was posted recently, some local celebs were also not happy over the implication of such changes.
Set to take effect on Jan. 16, the Facebook-owned company said under the updated Terms of Use that the app users ''agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.''
Among the many local celebrities active on Instagram who thought IG's new rule is breaching their intellectual property rights is model Marc Nelson, who even pondered on Twitter, ''i was thinking of the same thing #boycottinstagram,'' in response to a follower's query.
Model Kat Alano expressed being ''super irritated'' about it, while musician Jim Paredes signed up to another mobile photo editing app and reposted National Geographic Channel's decision to ''suspend'' their use of Instagram in protest of the issue.
Daphne Oseña-Paez stayed postive, however, hoping Instagram clears up the issue and noted, ''It would be sad to lose our community here.''
Later, IG seemed to have backpedaled and posted on their official blog: ''We've heard loud and clear that many users are confused and upset about what the changes mean,'' adding that ''We're going to modify specific parts of the terms to make it more clear what will happen with your photos.''
Host-DJ KC Montero, meanwhile, raised a good point when he asked, ''Are you actually going to quit instagram because of their new privacy policies? NO. You know youre all still going to use it. Stop flexing.''
