Lindsay Lohan warned to ‘watch it’

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been told to go "totally underground" to sort out her problems.

The actress was arrested for misdemeanour assault last week, on the same day it was confirmed she is facing charges for lying to police about a car crash in June.

Although her lawyer has insisted the assault charge is unfounded and Lindsay's mother Dina has hinted she believes there was foul play involved, others close to the star reportedly want her to take stock of the situation.

It's been reported she has hired a private investigator to unearth information about the woman she is accused of punching, psychic Tiffany Mitchell. An associate of the star believes she is focusing on the wrong things at the moment.

"Lindsay has so many legal problems right now. She has to go totally underground and focus on straightening out her life," the insider old Chicago Sun-Times.

"She’s in such danger of losing her probation and going back to jail [due to the charges about lying to police just filed in Santa Monica, Calif.], she has to really watch it."

Last week it was claimed Lindsay - who has battled addictions in the past and completed several stints in rehab - is drinking as much as two litres of vodka every day.

Earlier this year her father Michael Lohan tried to stage an intervention to force her to get help, which he claimed was backed by her management team.

Her assistant Gavin Doyle took to Twitter after her assault arrest in New York City last week, begging her to "get the help you so desperately need".

Michael has again insisted his 26-year-old daughter needs to go to rehab, following reports her team want her to check in for six months to avoid jail time.

Lindsay is reportedly not keen on getting professional help again.

"We're told Lindsay is having none of it... telling friends she does not think she has a problem with alcohol. Our sources say Lindsay points to the fact that she recently completed three movies as proof she does not need rehab," reports TMZ.

Lindsay is on probation after pleading no contest to stealing a necklace and is due in court soon in connection with the car crash charges.

The star has also been experiencing financial difficulties, with claims she owes a lot in tax. She apparently had an unpaid bill of $233,904 for 2009 and 2010 and owes more for 2011.

Charlie Sheen is reported to have provided her with $100,000 to help ease the difficulties, but TMZ reports the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has now seized Lindsay's accounts to force her to pay up.
