Lily James has revealed the best part of joining Downton Abbey is wearing the breathtaking 1920s dresses.
The 23-year-old actress stars as Lady Rose MacClare in the hugely popular UK TV series.
The British up-and-coming star revealed one particularly beautiful gown her character wore, which unfortunately wasn't seen fully in the episodes as she was sat down.
"I gasp every time I get given a new dress. I wish I could take them home, but they're real vintage pieces. There was one dress I adored, but I was sitting down which was a crying shame," Lily revealed to British magazine Grazia. "I wanted to parade around in it. The colours and the textures were incredible. Then there are the hats, gloves, stockings, slips and the special bras to flatten your chest."
Lily appeared in this year’s hit movie Wrath of the Titans, alongside Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson. The pretty star explained Downton Abbey can be even more demanding than making Hollywood films, as there are definite downsides to starring in a period drama.
"Sometimes you can end up changing costume five times a day," Lily explained."My hair takes two hours alone, because it's a wig and they have to glue my real hair down to my head. I hate wearing that wig."© Cover Media
