Kris Aquino laments delay in relief efforts
Actress-TV host Kris Aquino believes relief goods for typhoon Yolanda victims are not being dispatched as quickly as they should be.
“Take turns po talaga. Kahapon, mahabang lecture and conversation meron kami ni PNoy (President Noynoy Aquino, her brother). Ang truck na ni-roro mo that goes through Sorsogon, it takes 48 hours. So yesterday sa news napanuod natin na aid is already arriving. Yung mga eroplano, take turns sila sa pag-land,” she said in the November 15 edition of “Kris TV.”
Kris says she already feels desperate about the delay.
“Sabi ko nakakahiya na tanggap tayo nang tanggap ng goods pero hindi natin pa napapakita sa mga tao na umaabot sa kanila talaga na personal nating dinadala.”
The Kapamilya star is grateful Air Asia allowed her and ABS-CBN to use their planes to transport relief goods.
“They were so nice to me kasi may commitment ako on Sunday with Sagip Kapamilya to bring 10 tons of these goods to Leyte. They gave it to me na ang cost lang to me was the fuel charge. Sabi ko, kung hindi ka bubunot sa sarili mong bulsa at maghihintay ka pa, kawawa naman ang mga nangangailangan. So ginawan ng paraan. On Sunday, we will at least be able to bring 10 tons.”
Waiting for go signal
Kris hopes to get ABS-CBN’s go signal to visit areas badly hit by the typhoon.
“Nag-insist ako na ako sana ang makasama together with Ma’m Tina (Monzon-Palma, program director of ABS-CBN Foundation’s public service programsPero I’m still waiting for approval kung pwede ba ako or makakadagdag lang ako sa gulo. But I really want to be there with Ma’m Tina.”
Kris adds that celebrities bring much more than relief goods to typhoon victims.
“Nagdadala kami ng reassurance, pag-asa at pagmamahal. Sa panahon ngayon, iyan talaga ang kailangan ng mga tao. It gives us great pleasure and gratification to accept even more.”
