SBS TV new variety talk show ‘Incarnation - the One who Rules the Heart’ made its official debut on the night of February 19th, where actress and now female host, Kim Hee Sun, showed her gift of the gab and the might of a married woman.
In the debut episode, Lee Soo Geun, Eun Ji Won, Kim Jong Min, and Jun Hyun Moo appeared as guests alongside hosts Shin Dong Yup, Yoon Jong Shin, and Kim Hee Sun. As the only female for the episode, Kim Hee Sun drew much attention and used her gift of the gab to ‘control’ the guests and her two co-hosts.
At the beginning, Kim Hee Sun already laid down the framework by saying, “Compared to Shin Dong Yup, Lee Dong Wook would be better,” teasing Shin Dong Yup while building up chemistry with him at the same time. She then added, “I have been doing this to him (Shin Dong Yup) a lot lately, and it has become an addiction.”
Kim Hee Sun was straightforward and frank, and never shied away from the topic even if it was about her own private life, and left everyone present stunned. When Jun Hyun Moo talked about his ‘basement car park’ incident and his grievances, Kim Hee Sun quipped in, “Everyone practically has their own car park experiences. I feel it would be better if it was even deeper (basement levels).”
Kim Hee Sun then said, “I basically never got down to cooking for my husband, because I am not good at it. Even if I do it, he wouldn’t like it. I do quarrel with him sometimes because of some minor things,” detailing her personal experiences that only married woman have.
Her gentle appearance and striking personality however became a huge contrast. When Lee Soo Geun asked, “Wouldn’t it be great if the wife cooks for you and then says gently, “It’s time to eat.” Why don’t you even try doing it?” Kim Hee Sun shouted back in reply while flinging the script, “Are women maids?”
Even though she was ‘angry’, she never forgot about her primary task as a host, and kept the program flowing on smoothly without much fuss. As the only female on the episode, Kim Hee Sun offered her opinions from a female perspective, and said words in a frank manner that only married women can do, and offered much laughter to those present in the studio.
The debut episode not only swept away her image of being a fussy woman, but also allowed others to see her as a next-door sister with an easy-going personality. As a variety host who showed another side of her as a housewife, Kim Hee Sun easily claimed a passing grade on her debut.
‘Incarnation - the One who Rules the Heart’ is a show that explores lifestyle differences between generations through surveys to viewers. Thousands of viewers will respond to surveys asking about different lifestyle issues ever y week, and the different topics will be re-enacted through sketches with the hosts and guests, making it easy for viewers to identify with.
