Julia Barretto: After you, Tita Claudine!
Julia Barretto is proud of her showbiz genes. The star of the upcoming Kapamiya series Cofradia shares that she has similarities with her mom Marjorie and aunts Gretchen and Claudine.
“Sa tita Claudine ko, yung passion niya sa acting. Super galing niya sa pag-arte and iyon talaga ang gusto kong gawin. Sa tita Gretchen ko, ganoon din sa pag-arte, pero siguro more on sa fashion side niya. And also yung pagiging masayahin niya. Sa work kahit late na, masaya pa rin. Ganoon ako, energetic pa rin. Sa mom ko, siguro the way I think, the way I handle things,” Julia said during the press conference of “Cofradia” in ABS-CBN compound on Friday, May 24.
Julia plays the title role in the series.
Acting style
The teen actress wants to follow in the footsteps of Claudine where teleseryes are concerned.
“Hindi naman sa gagayahin kasi gusto may sarili akong acting techniques. Gusto ko rin yung mga roles niya.”
Julia added that she likes Gretchen and Claudine’s acting style and dreams of working with them someday.
“Super fan ako ng dalawa. Iba ang style ng pag-arte nila at iba din ang nabibigay na role sa kanilang dalawa. Tita Gretchen, more of kontrabida, si Tita Claudine more of the good girl. Hindi ko pa nakikita masyado na si Tita Gretchen mag-good girl at si Tita Claudine na magkontrabida. Pareho ko silang idol.”
Putting an end on the Barreto family fued
Julia wants no part in the ongoing family feud. She hasn’t brought up the the issue with her grandmother Inday Barretto since Julia wants it resolved first.

“I want everything to be calm muna between the magkakapatid before I make a move. Sila na muna. Hindi ko iyon problema, it’s not for me to fix. Sa kanila na iyon. Gusto ko sila muna ang magkaayos, maging quiet muna, bago mag-usap-usap about it.”
Julia’s lips are also sealed on Claudine’s reported accusations against her.

“Kasi yung mga pinag-uusapan ng mom ko and mga titas ko, sa kanila na lang iyon. Hindi ko sila nakakausap about it na ‘Julia, ikaw yung reason.’ Sa kanila na lang iyon. Sila na lang muna ang mag-usap-usap about that. Ayaw ko talagang magpa-affect, ayaw kong pag-usapan. It’s such a happy day today. It’s been great the past few days. It’s been a great week na wala akong time to think about stuff like those.”
Julia added hat she will always be close to Claudine even if they haven’t seen each other for a while.
“The thing about our family is, kapag matagal na hindi nagkita, kapag nagkita kayo, parang hindi matagal. Close pa rin kami, pareho pa rin ang mga ginagawa namin.”
Mom’s strength
Julia admires her mom’s strength amidst the photo scandal she recently faced.

“Ang galing niya ‘no? Pati ako, ‘Ang galing ni Mommy.’ Napaka-strong niya. There’s really nothing to worry about sa mommy ko. Napaka-strong and magaling siya mag-handle sa mga situations na ganoon.”
Julia thinks Marjorie doesn’t have to say sorry to her and her siblings regarding the controversy.
“Kasi kilalang-kilala namin yung mom namin. Alam namin yung mga magagawa niya and yung mga hindi niya magagawa. She doesn’t have to say sorry, coming from her daughter.”
