John Lloyd avoids questions about Angelica

Experience has taught John Lloyd Cruz to smell intrigue a mile away. When press people asked him what his idea of a perfect Sunday is after the presscon of  Star Cinema’s “The Mistress” on Sunday,  August 26, his answer was evasive.

“A perfect Sunday is like this, kung paano kami (referring to co-star Bea Alonzo) tinatanggap ng mga kaibigan sa  press. At alam ko na kung saan patutungo yan.”

“Perfect Sunday” refers to the title of an Instagram photo collage which he posted on Twitter.  The collage shows a photo of him and rumored girlfriend Angelica Panganiban with the caption  “Welcome Happiness. Joy pursued. Welcome everyone especially those who are smiling out of warmth.”

Angelica was just as  evasive. Asked the same question in a separate press conference, she replied, “Masaya at perfect ang bawat araw ko ngayon, hindi lang Sunday, but every day.” She did not want to compare her current “happiness” to her past relationship (with Derek Ramsay, with whom she had a six-year relationship, long enough for people to believe  they are headed for the altar). Angelica said “obvious naman siguro sa lahat kung ano ang meron ako noon…but now siguro may karapatan naman ako to happiness and a little privacy…at kung ano ang nararamdaman ko ngayon? Paganda ng paganda ang mga araw ko…”

John Lloyd  was more direct in facing intriguing questions about his love life.

Not the right time

“This not the right time and place to talk about it,” he told reporters at presscon of “The Mistress.”

He was more open about  his 10-year on screen partnership with Bea, with whom he shares daring scenes with in the movie.

“Bea is part of my success as an actor,” he said. ”May mga eksenang magagawa ko lang kung kasama ko siya.”

The admiration is mutual.

“John Lloyd is one of God’s greatest gifts to me,” Bea reveals. “Isa siya sa pinakamagaling na aktor sa henerasyon natin.” -- With Walden Martinez Belen
