Jericho Rosales: 'Mas masaya ako!'
Engaged celebrity couple Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones was a picture of pure happiness as they entered Teatrino hand-in-hand to watch the first of Gary Valenciano’s eight “Tuesdays with Gary” shows.
“I feel great! Mas macho ang feeling ko!” Jericho exclaimed.
The future groom admitted he felt very nervous when he popped the question to Kim, who noticed that her boyfriend was shaking. But all his fears vanished when his Filipino-British fiancée said yes to him on her birthday, Aug. 4, in church.
“Nung um-oo siya, hindi ko alam kung anong nag-iba. Mas masaya, mas kumpleto ako sa buhay mas excited ako, mas ganado sa trabaho, mas inspired. I know great things are coming for us. Hindi ko pa ma-explain hanggang ngayon. Hindi pa pumasok sa sistema ko. Basta ang alam ko umoo na siya sa akin.”
Although she and Jericho have discussed marriage, Kim didn’t see the proposal coming on her birthday.
“Akala ko he was greeting me lang. I thought we were just going to church.”
Extra blessed
Now that people are rallying behind them, Kim feels extra blessed that she and Jericho are getting a lot of well-wishers.
But while Kim was surprised at Jericho’s life-changing move, the latter admits it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“Matagal ko nang pinagdasal ito. Three months ago pa. I started to pray and asked myself kung ano ang gusto ko sa birthday ko (September 22). Ang sagot na nakuha ko si I want a wife for my birthday. Matagal na itong desire ko.”
So the 33-year-old Jericho started laying the groundwork for marriage.
“I started preparing for it emotionally, financially, mentally. Now, everything is ready. Game na. Go na!”
Since Kim’s family is based on Australia, he has done the traditional pamamanhikan the modern way. He had a ‘secret Skype’ session with his and Kim’s “Tita Lolita.”
Kim’s family is expected to go to the Philippines for the wedding since the couple, who love go so surfing, has decided to have a beach wedding in the country.
“Maraming magagandang beaches dito. Huwag na tayong lumayo pa,” says Jericho.
Excited future bride
“It’s amazing and I’m excited!” his future bride chimed in.
It was Jericho, she revealed, who taught her how to surf. In fact, she said that their relationship started to grow after that.
The couple came all the way from La Union to greet Gary happy birthday and wish him the best on his 30th anniversary in showbiz. Gary went down memory lane, performing numbers he used to do decades back, when he was still trying to make a name for himself.
“I’m excited to sing numbers I used to perform 30 years ago."
He promised to sing his own OPM songs in “Tuesdays with Gary,” which is set Aug. 13, 20, 27 and Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, 8 p.m. at Teatrino ni Promenade, Greenhills.
Gary is excited for the series of shows because it reminds him of how he started. He and the likes of Martin Nievera, Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Joey Albert and Randy Santiago used to perform in the cozy ‘80s bar Tavern on the Square.
“It’s been a while since I did a series of shows in a very small venue,” Gary revealed.
