Jasmine and Eula love working with David

Working with ‘American Idol’ finalist David Archuleta is a dream come true for Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero, whom the American singer-songwriter impressed with his  kindness and professionalism.

The three artists topbill TV5’s upcoming mini-series “Nandito Ako.”

David plays Josh Bradley, a Filipino-American singer who returns to the Philippines, while Eula and Jasmine portray his love interests.

Eula, winner of TV5’s talent search “Star Factor,” shared that she has been long waiting for her big break.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako kasi alam naman po ng lahat na isa sa mga laging tinatanong sa akin is, ‘Hindi ka ba naiinip kasi hindi ka pa nabibigyan ng break?’ Ito na po’yung inaantay ko,” Eula said at the press conference of “Nandito Ako” at the Meralco compound on Saturday, Feb. 4.

While it took her a long time to get her first lead role, Eula understands that she still had to grow and learn more.

“I’m very happy naman na pina-grow muna ako ng TV5 bago nila binigay sa akin ito. Part ito ng pag-aalaga sa akin bago ko ito makuha, and now si David Archuleta pa ang makakatrabaho namin,” she said.

Jasmine echoed the same sentiment and said that working with David at the start of her career is very “overwhelming.”

“Everyday gumigising ako at sinasabi na ‘Totoo ba ito? Hindi ba ito dream?’ Kasi never kong na-imagine na mangyayari ito sa akin especially na kaka-start ko lang sa career ko,” Jasmine said.

Even if David is known more as a singer and acting is a totally new experience for him, he has managed to impress his co-actors with his attitude.

Easy to work with

“Working with David is such a pleasure. He is very easy to work with, very willing to listen and to grow and to adjust to whatever needs to be done,” Jasmine said.

Eula, on the other hand, felt like she was in a TV musical as David and the cast were always singing on the set during their free time.

“Pag feeling niya na parang hindi niya naibigay ng buong-buo sa eksena, sya pa ang magri-request na mag-take pa. Gusto niya best lagi ang eksena. Lagi rin may kantahan sa set. ‘Yung mga pagkanta niya yung isa sa mga mami-miss namin sa set,” Eula said.

She added that she taught David some Filipino words and let him try local cuisine during the three weeks they have been working together. She added that David appreciates everything she is doing for him.

“Nakakatuwa na kapag may tinuro ka na kahit sobrang babaw, nakakatuwa yung reaction nya. So alam mo na napasaya mo siya. Ganun siya, pag may ginawa ka sa kanya, ipapafeel niya sa ‘yo na ‘You made me happy and thank you for that,’” Eula recalls.

Just friends

Meanwhile, Jasmine denied rumors that David is courting her since she personally invited him to watch the concert of her older sister Anne Curtis. David watched the show with TV5 bosses.

“Wala pong something, we’re just really friends. Siyempre, we wanted him to have fun and hindi lang puro work. So, I invited him. He said yes, I hope naman he enjoyed,” Jasmine clarified.

She and Eula have already gotten close to David even if they spent only three weeks together on the set. Both agree that they will miss David when he returns to the US.

“One thing I won’t forget about David is everything. Lahat kami na-enjoy yung side niya, yung pagka-jolly niya. As a person, as a friend and as a co-actor, we won’t forget him,” Jasmine said.

“Nandito Ako,” directed by Mac Alejandre, also stars Gelli de Belen, Aiko Melendez, G Tongi, Mon Confiado, Ana Feleo, Joseph Bitangcol and Alwyn Uytingco. It premieres Feb. 20 on TV5 after “Wil Time Big Time.”
