Focus

Does their decision not to settle down stem from their desire to focus on their careers? Iya said this isn’t the case.  She even cited how stars these days can have successful careers and love lives as well.

“I think times have changed. I think you can see the audience has opened their minds,” she said. “Tingnan ninyo nga si Richard Yap, we all know he’s married. And yet people are attached to the love team he has with Jodi (Sta. Maria). But he’s very open.”

“I’m happy where I am and I know I’m extremely lucky to be where I am,” Iya added, saying she’ll take whatever new opportunities and challenges are given her.

The 26-year-old star will face a new challenge as joins the primetime soap opera “Apoy sa Dagat” with Angelica Panganiban, Piolo Pascual, and Diether Ocampo.

“It’s been a while. I’ve forgotten the feeling of how it is to tape. I thought na masyado akong safe sa lugar ko ngayon. And I was just looking to shake things up a bit,” she said of her decision to join the ABS-CBN teleserye.

“Di naman sa hindi ako masaya sa ginagawa ko. It’s just that I was looking for a challenge. And tamang-tama naman (yung ‘Apoy sa Dagat’).”
