Hong Seok Cheon Shares about the Struggles of Being Korea’s First Gay Celebrity

As the first Korean celebrity to be open about his sexuality, Hong Seok Cheon will share the burden he′s been carrying for the past 13 years on SBS’ Healing Camp



Hong Seok Cheon publicly came out as a homosexual in 2000, causing a dent in his career, but was able to gradually build up again, after appearing in variety shows and becoming a successful restaurateur.

On February 4’s broadcast of Healing Camp, Hong Seok Cheon will reveal everything about his struggles and hardships in the entertainment industry as Korea’s first openly gay celebrity.

“When I was asked to come out on Healing Camp, I was really hesitant,” said the actor. “But I wanted to come out and talk about everything.”

Hong Seok Cheon honestly talked about his struggles as he lived under the judgment of others for the past 13 years.

He shared his parents’ reaction to the news as well as their wishes for him to still get married. He also received a letter during the shoot, causing Hong Seok Cheon to pour out tears. The content will be revealed during broadcast.
