Three years after its Manila show and immersion in Cebu, Australian musical group Hi-5 is back in the country to stage “Hi-5 Holiday” on December 14 to 16 at SM Mall of Asia Centerstage.
The musical group for kids, composed of Tim Maddren, Lauren Brant, Stevie Nicholson and Casey Burgess is excited to be back. The group’s new member Dayen Zheng, is visiting the Philippines for the first time.
“This is Dayen’s first time, so it’s more exciting. There’s so much music, so much happiness and culture and excitement, so we love coming back here,” Lauren told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of media at a press conference in Hyatt Hotel Manila on Wednesday, December 12.
Tim described their 2009 trip to Cebu to visit the young beneficiaries of World Vision as “very special.” He even wrote the song “Salamat Philippines,” which contains the line “Their country can face hardships, but its people are so strong.”
Appeal to typhoon victims
As World Vision ambassadors, Hi-5 called on their fans to help victims of Typhoon Pablo.
“It’s lovely to know that we can have an impact in the Philippines, particularly with what the Philippines recently has been through with a typhoon. It’s really important that we are over here and make time to give back to Filipino people who have given so much to us. We’re looking forward to that,” Stevie said.
As World Vision Australia ambassadors, Hi-5 performs for kids and enjoys bringing them joy.
“For us, we learn so much from the children. The kids, whether rich or poor, they just want to have fun. So, that’s what we intend to do, to bring that fun. Just to see you dancing and singing along, that for us, is why we love to do this every day,” Stevie said.
“Hi-5 Holiday” features favorite kiddie songs like ‘Let’s Get Away,” “Wonderful,” “Zoo Party” and “Celebrate.”
A kaleidoscope of colors
“Expect lots of singing and dancing. Hi-5 will be bringing a lot of fun since everyone loves holidays. It’s a classic Hi-5, lots of colors and bright lights,” Casey said.
Aside from meeting Filipino fans, the Hi-5 members love to go to Boracay. They are excited to eat Filipino food like adobo and sinigang.
“We were so thrilled how lovely everybody was. Everyone was amazing. You guys are so welcoming and it’s a very lovely feeling. We feel so welcome,” Lauren said.
