Anne Hathaway’s representative has slammed reports the star is quitting acting because of online bullies.
The Oscar-winning Les Miserables star was subject to rumours this week she's throwing in the towel because she’s sick of being in the spotlight.
Anne was targeted with cruel online taunts last month when so-called “Hathahaters” came out of the woodwork to criticise her Academy Awards acceptance speech for best supporting actress and the dress she wore to the ceremony.
“Anne’s in shock and has been in tears over it nonstop,” a source told America’s Star magazine.
“She’s even sobbed to one friend that she feels like leaving the business for good and vanishing, like Brigitte Bardot,” the purported insider continued, adding, “She’s really worked herself up.”
A spokesperson for the promising 30-year-old star says the claims are completely unfounded.
To the contrary Anne is already gearing up for her latest movie.
“She is about to commit to her next project,” her representative told GossipCop.com.
Anne is soon set to begin work on animated adventure Rio 2.
The actress is voicing the lead character, Jewel, in the forthcoming Carlos Saldanha film about a couple who move their family to the Amazon. Rio 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2014.
