Gretchen on family feud: Hindi dapat isapubliko
Beleaguered actress-host Gretchen Barretto broke into tears on Sunday, May 5, in ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz,” where she expressed her feelings on the very public family feud involving her, her mother and siblings.
“Hindi madali yung pinag-uusapan ka ng buong Pilipinas. Hindi madaling pakinggan yung pinagdaanan ko, yung childhood ko. Away-pamilya ito, Boy (referring to the show’s host, Boy Abunda). Hindi dapat isapubliko,” she said in the live interview.
Love and support
Gretchen realized many people love and support her. In her Instagram account, she updated her followers on the gifts and words of encouragement she got from family and friends.
“It took so long for me to learn so many things. I learned this week that a tight embrace means the world to me. I learned that marami rin palang nagmamahal sa akin, I also learned that life is not perfect and I cannot have everything,” she added.
Despite the accusations against her, Gretchen chose to keep mum about the issues her mother, Inday, and US-based sister Gia, have raised against her.
“Boy, ayaw kong magsalita. Dominique, my daughter, knows my story. Many years from now, lilingunin niya itong nangyari sa akin. Maaalala ni Dominique na ‘My mom never fought.’ And that’s what’s important to me. That’s what I want to leave behind.”
It will be recalled that Inday called the actress a “liar” in a letter sent to Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo. Gia sided with her mother and sister Claudine.
Their brother, Joaquin, on the other hand, defended Gretchen, who is reportedly planning to sue Gia.
Dominique, on the other hand, chose to defend her mother.
“I know my mum more than anyone,” she said in her message on Twitter.
The feud started when a netizen criticized Julia Barretto, daughter of Gretchen’s sister Marjorie Barretto and her former husband Dennis Padilla. Gretchen reacted by sending negative messages on Instagram which were presumably aimed at Claudine.
