Grace Lee on President Noynoy Aquino: Hes a very interesting man

BY JAMIE ORTEGA Almost a week has passed since President Noynoy Aquino revealed that he is dating Korean radio and television personality Grace Lee. There have been a lot of speculations regarding the true nature of their relationship. Lee set the record straight once and for all in an exclusive interview with broadcast journalist Luchi Cruz -Valdez on TV5s news program Journo. According to Grace, he is different from all the Presidents that came before him because of his down-to-earth nature. "You know why the public loves him so much? I don't think we've ever had a president na ganyan ka-love ng mga tao. Its not difficult to understand because even when it comes to his security, he's number one rule is to not inconvenience the citizens because of him." Grace revealed how their romance began, "Like any normal guy, he just texted me, greeted me 'Happy New Year.' That's how it started, very simple. He's a simple person." Lee thought he was just being nice and didnt give it any added meaning. "Of course, there's flattery there but I didn't expect anything of it. I didn't assume na may gusto siya sa akin kaya nagte-text siya, because he was always so proper and appropriate." Their casual exchange eventually turned into regular dinner dates. They would go out two to three times a week. At the onset, Grace didnt think people would make such a big deal out of it. "Well, it's just dinner. What's wrong with that? It started from there, she shared. Then, as it continued, I got to know him more, and I started getting more comfortable with him. I told him how bad can it be? He just laughed and said, Youll see,' she related. Grace added, Now, ang joke nya sa akin is welcome to my world. The TV-radio host added that, with all the problems he encounters daily, the President should relax once in a while. "He needs it. He does go through a very stressful day. I mean, the level of stress and the things that he has to worry about are no joke. It's a serious matter. Sometimes, when I do see him for dinner, I do feel that he needs this. He needs to unwind and talk about things that he wants to, not the things that he needs to. Grace admitted that she does think of their age difference, after all, the President is 23 years older than her. Grace is 29 while President Noy is 52. However, her worries drift away when they converse. "I worried about that, too. And I still worry about it. But the more I get to know him, the less I feel the age difference. You know, when I talk to him, the more I get to know him, mas less nagiging issue sa akin ang age difference namin. She revealed that one of the things she likes about President Noy is his ability to talk about anything under the sun. "We can talk to each other 24 hours straight. He's a very interesting man. He's like walking encyclopedia. We don't always talk about serious things. We talk about music a lot because he's such a big music person." The Korean TV personality shared that she wants to get to know him more, however, she is willing to take it slow because he is such a high-profile personality. "Without the title, it might have taken longer for me to get to know him only because there's less media attention. I think we would have taken our time to get to know each other more. Now, I kind of feel that I'm being pushed. I'm trying to fight that because I don't want to be dragged into something just because everyone is talking about it. There is no denying the fact that Grace is the talk of the town and that, naturally, a lot of people are sharing their opinions. The TV host revealed that majority of the people shes interacted with are happy with their budding romance. "I think, from the tweets, from my radio show, and from my Facebook account, I get 95 percent good comments about this whole thing; and five percent negative, which I think isn't so bad." How about the other 5 percent who think shes in it for publicity? "I try to brush it off. I've come across so many people who really want to just make you feel bad about yourself. But if you let them get to you, you'd be the most miserable person. That's why, for me, it's important for me to know who to listen to.
