Google+ trends: International Book Week, PlayStation 3, Talk like a Pirate Day

Google+ users are celebrating International Book Week, buzzing about the new PlayStation 3 and talking like a pirate on Wednesday, September 19.

Google+ users are sharing pictures of some of their favorite bookstores and playing the unofficial game of International Book Week, which involves turning to page 52 of the nearest book and posting the fifth sentence on that page as a status update.

Also trending is Sony's new PlayStation 3. The console, which was introduced at a press event in Tokyo on September 19, is a slimmed down version of the existing PlayStation 3 and will begin rolling out internationally from September 25.

Google+ users are also celebrating "Talk Like A Pirate Day," an international celebration of swashbuckling lingo which began as an joke and is now celebrated on September 19 every year. The day was first created in 1995 by Oregon residents John Baur and Mark Summers and evolved from there. The day has close links with the Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, which celebrates it as a holiday.
