Google+ trends: Happy birthday Google, 'Iron Man' from space

Google+ users are wishing Google a happy birthday on September 27 and buzzing about a Buddhist statue with extraterrestrial origins.

Google celebrated its 14th birthday on September 27 by featuring an animated interactive Google Doodle of a chocolate cake. The chocolate cake shown in the doodle is slowly "eaten" to reveal a snazzy version of the Google logo underneath.

Google's big day has caused users of its social networking site to push the hashtag "#Birthday" into fourth position.

Also causing a buzz, under the trending topic "Iron Man," is a Buddhist statue which scientists have discovered has extraterrestrial properties.

The statue known as "Iron Man" is a 24cm-high sculpture of what is thought to represent the god Vaisravana and was brought back from Tibet by a Nazi-backed expedition. Scientists are now claiming that the statue was carved from a piece of the Chinga meteorite, pieces of which were scattered across Russia and Mongolia some 10,000-20,000 years ago. If the scientists are proved correct, the "Iron Man" carving would be the third largest piece of meteorite ever discovered form that particular meteor fall.
