Freddie ties the knot with teenage girlfriend

Their May-December relationship may have earned mixed reactions from the public, but Freddie Aguilar and girlfriend Jovi Gatdula are not letting any of these get in the way of their love.

According to report published in The Philippine Star on Saturday, November 23, the singer-songwriter married the 16-year-old girl in Muslim rites held at BBGM Restaurant in Maguindanao on Friday, November 23.

Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu” organized the wedding under presidential decree 1083 (Muslim Family Code of the Philippines). Freddie has converted to Islam last May.

“The Philippine Star” report also said Mangudadatu and Freddie revaled that the bride’s parents gave an authorization letter allowing the union.

In Islamic Shariah Law, marriage is said to be permitted once the couple reaches maturity or puberty.

Aguilar now carries the Muslim name Abdul Fared, while Jovie is now known as Sitti Marian.
