Are you a foodie? Take a food list challenge to find out

It’s an app that divides the gastronomically timid from the intrepid food-loving adventurer.

As of April 10, more than 1.7 million users have taken up ‘The Food List Challenge.’ Developers believe that most people will have eaten fewer than 20 of the 100 foods.

To see if their palate for adventure qualifies them as bona fide foodies, users check off the number of items they’ve tried on a list of 100 foods that includes everything from US staples like barbecue ribs and pastrami on rye through brunch classic eggs benedict to Chinese delicacy bird’s nest soup, smelly fruit durian and even squirrel.

Users can then share and compare their results with their Facebook friends.

The premise is similar to other apps which divide the well-read from the literary clueless and the well-traveled from the couch potatoes.

The Book List Challenge, for instance, includes the BBC’s list of 100 all-time classics as well as popular contemporary novels, while British book retailer Waterstones offers a list of 50 Books to Read Before You Die.

Similarly, the Travel List Challenge includes 100 destinations which span all corners of the world.
