First on OMG! - Piolo’s son Iñigo stars in debut movie

Piolo Pascual’s son Iñigo will finally get his share of the limelight. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the actor's 15-year-old son will star in an indie film co-produced by Piolo no less.

Director Joyce Bernal,  Piolo’s co-executive producer for the movie “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig” under their studio production Spring Films,  told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! that getting Iñigo to make his movie debut wasn’t easy as Piolo has always preferred to keep his son out of show business.

“Ang tagal naming niligawan [si Piolo] ayaw niya talaga. When finally pumayag siya, sabi niya, ‘Pelikula lang, hindi siya magpo-promo. Hindi dapat makaka-abala sa studies niya.”
 
That’s why the production made sure it finished shooting the movie in 16 working days,  while Iñigo was on vacation in the country.
 
Iñigo finished shooting scenes with his co-stars, Star Magic artists Julian Estrada and Sofia Andres in Zambales, Tacloban and Sorsogon and is now back in the United States to resume his studies.
 

“Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig” is a coming-of-age story about three teenagers who feel that the love 16-year-olds like them feel is most genuine.

Iñigo has big shoes to fill. But Bernal thinks that as far as acting is concerned, father and son are not that different from each other.
 
“Passionate siya and nag-eenjoy siya (Iñigo). Parang feeling ko meron talaga, pero medyo nagpipigil pa rin. Ayaw niya tumodo dahil alam niyang kailangan pa niya tapusin ang pag-aaral niya,” said the co-executive producer whose filmography show that she can easily detect future stars.

Piolo the ‘Super Producer’
 
Based on Bernal’s accounts, Piolo is prepared to discard his actor’s hat and replace it with that of a producer’s.
 
“Sa'ming lahat [na producers] siya 'yung pinakamatindi, parang siya 'yung nag-aral ng filmmaking. Nagra-rushes 'yan tapos nagko- comment. Sa first project namin [Kimmy Dora], may pa-reshoot agad siya.”
 
Piolo is a  hands-on producer.
 
“I told the directors (Irene Villamor and Antoinette Jadaone), 'Sure kayo na kaya niyo 'yung comments ni Piolo ha. Kasi, sa'min lang, matanda na kami pero 'pag kinomentan niya  [mahirap,]” Bernal states.
 
Director Bernal added that Piolo definitely knows what he’s doing.
 
“Producer talaga siya na may pera at may alam. Minsan kasi producer ka lang kapag may pera ka but you don't know anything about filmmaking. Dito kasi alam niya. Ang tawag nga namin sa kanya ‘super producer’ e.”
 
She shared that “Relaks” has no playdate yet as they’re still studying prospects for the movie.

“Pinag-aaralan pa namin ang market ng movie. Sobrang sugal sa’min ‘to kahit indie and small-budgeted lang.”
