f(x)’s Sulli and SHINee’s Minho will be the leads for the Korean version of ‘Hana Kimi’ drama titled ‘To the Beautiful You’ which will be broadcast in August through SBS.
The drama centers on Goo Jae Hui (Sulli), who wants to help high jump athlete, Kang Tae Joon (Minho) get back on track after he suffers a setback.
To do so, she disguises herself as a boy and transfers to the all-boy school that Tae Joon is in. From then on, they develop a hilarious but eventually lovely romance.
The drama is based on a popular Japanese manga, ‘Hana Kimi’ written by Hisaya Nakajo and serialized from 1996 to 2004. It was a very popular manga, with sales in Asia numbering over 260 million copies. Live adaptation dramas of the manga were also produced first in Taiwan and then in Japan, and were also wildly popular.
Directing the drama will be Jun Ki Sang whose previous works include ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Boys Over Flowers’. Writing the script will be Lee Young Chul who previously wrote the screenplay for ‘High Kick Through the Roof’. This will also be the first production under SM Entertainment’s subsidiary company, SM C&C (SM Culture & Contents).
More cast members will be revealed soon and filming will begin sometime in June, to make it in time for release in August for the school holidays.
