At 40, Eugene Domingo may have done everything she has dreamed of doing. But she still has one more wish: to have a love life.
"Katulad din ng hinihingi ng maraming-maraming tao. Love life!" Eugene laughed when asked what else she wants to have. "Meron naman tayong Diyos, nakikinig naman ang Diyos, may pag-asa ako!"
The star of the Cinemalaya entry "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" was beaming as she answered questions from the press during the gala night of the said film at the CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines).
"I'm very happy. I would like to congratulate our writers Chris Martinez, our director Marlon Rivera, and the rest of the cast. JM de Guzman, Kean Cipriano, Cai cortez, Ms. Mercedes Cabral,Ms.
Eugene is thankful for the challenging role, which required her to show her versatility in comedy, drama, and even the musical genre all at the same time. But she does not expect to receive acting accolades for her role. Seeing the crowd's reaction to the film is enough achievement for her."Ako po'y nagpapasalamat sa magandang role na binigay sa akin ni Chris Martinez at ni Marlon Rivera. Yun ay sapat na panalo na para sa akin ang mabigyan ng magandang role," she said.
Eugene can't help but feel overwhelmed while watching herself on the big screen. After all, it is while shooting this film that she met an accident.
She fell inside a septic tank and had to be brought to a hospital.
"Yes, I'm a bit overwhelmed kasi it's a long journey. Alam mo dito ako naaksidente eh. Nung napanood ko ulit, naku iyun na malapit na, malapit na akong mahulog. And after ng lahat ng pinagdaanan namin, cause it was not easy, lumabas na tama yung produkto, tama yung reaksyon ng tao, it's all worth it. We are so very happy and very thankful for Cinemalaya."
Eugene has one wish for the movie.
"Hopefully, 'pag nagkaroon kami ng extra budget maipalabas sa regular screening para mas mapanuod ng maraming tao," she said. From mainstream to indie and back again
Eugene believes all artists should keep a balance in their careers by doing both mainstream and independent films. This will greatly contribute to an artist's growth.
"Once in a while kailangan talaga balanse ng mga artista. Gagawa ka ng independent, gagawa ka ng mainstream. Ang importante mabibigyan mo ng chance ang sarili mo to do everything," she said.
After "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" Eugene will be back on the big screen via Star Cinema's
"Pwedeng Tayo, Pwedeng Hindi" with Toni Gonzaga.
"Malapit na siya ipalabas. Probably this August," she said.
