Dong Abay caps nationalistic month with ‘Rebulto’

Launch of Dong Abay’s album, “Rebulto.” Photo by Niña SandejasJune seems to be a month that sparked a lot of nationalistic events, from Philippine Independence Day to Jose Rizal’s birthday.  And it was fitting to cap off the month with the launch of Dong Abay’s album, “Rebulto.”

The album is a tribute to Jose Rizal and a video was shown before the event at Cubao X last June 28 explaining the ideas and concept behind the album.

Sandwich performed with Dong Abay including Buddy Zabala on keys. Flying Ipis and Gaijin performed a mean set to warm up the crowd.  
 
Fans and fellow musicians braved the rain and watched Abay perform as he stood on a plinth or stand during the first half of his set. It served to emphasize the title of his new album.
