(UPDATE) Derek Ramsay is hurt that Anne Curtis is not allowed to mention his name while doing promotions for a “A Secret Affair”.

In an interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of the entertainment media after the movie's press conference held on Tuesday, October 15, Derek said he’s hurt and disappointed over the news. However, “mga ganyang klaseng issues, I won’t let it affect me,” he said.

Derek added: “It hurts. I treated them like family. I still do. It hurts. But what can I do? I just want to respect the decision that they made.”

Meanwhile, Anne revealed she’s “frustrated “ over the directive but “at the end of the day, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. They have their own reasons so I have to respect that bilang nagtatrabaho naman ako dun”.

“Ayoko lang to imbibe in the negativity. Think about the positive na lang and all out na lang (ang promotion) in other channels and sa social media,” she said.

Derek was a Kapamilya actor until he moved to the Kapatid network April of this year.

Grateful for Anne

The TV5 actor is happy Anne’s got his back despite her being an ABS-CBN talent.

“You know it’s really touching that Anne, even though she’s given strict instructions that she can’t mention my name, she still did in some sort of way. It’s really touching that she did that,” he said.

When a reporter mused during the interview that Derek is a “secret leading,” Derek answered: “What’s the secret? I moved. That was never a secret. That was a hard decision that I made for my career. I went through the right process. I didn’t hide it. I let them know. I was honest to them from day one.”

“I just don’t want to think it’s coming from them. I want to think that this was an issue that was created. That’s how I’m gonna think of it because I have a lot of respect for ABS-CBN because of what they did for me,” he added.

“I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for them.”

As of posting time, Yahoo! Philippines OMG! is trying to reach ABS-CBN for comments.

No typecasting, no labels

But Derek would rather focus on “A Secret Affair” rather than dwell on the issue.

This isn’t the first time Derek is playing a character torn between two women (his 2011 hit “No Other Woman” also delves into this theme). Isn’t he afraid he’ll be stuck in this kind of role?

“No,” Derek said. “We’re acting.”

He added: “May nagtanong nga if ito na yung trend ngayon. I don’t think so. Movies like this have been made for many years already, not only here but abroad. And I don’t think it will die because it’s part of life. People can relate to this.”

Unlike his film roles though, Derek’s love life is very peaceful. He recently admitted seeing a non-showbiz girl.

How serious is his relationship with the non-showbiz girl?

“I don’t want to put any labels as of now. But what I can say is we’re both very happy,” he said.

Derek added he’s taking his time but the girl is “she’s somebody I’m very interested in” as they are both interested in sports and traveling.

The Kapatid actor doesn’t want to reveal the identity of his girl, but says she plays Frisbee and is into surfing.

“A Secret Affair” opens October 24 in theaters nationwide.
