Denise admits she’s a mom

After keeping her silence during her rumored pregnancy last year, Denise Laurel finally admitted that she gave birth to a boy.

Her rumored pregnancy created a buzz when Denise suddenly dropped out of the TV series ‘Kristine.’ In an interview with ‘The Buzz’ yesterday, Denise admitted that she first thought of her family when she found out she’s pregnant. Since hers is a strict family, Denise didn’t know how her loved ones  would react to her pregnancy.

“The first thing that came to my mind was my family. 'Yun naman ang parati kong unang iniisip eh, my family comes first. I come from a very strict family, very conservative and I’m already pushing the envelope (in) being an artista and choosing the roles that I choose. So I was thinking how they would react,” Denise told host Boy Abunda.

Family support

She admitted that her family was disappointed when they learned of her pregnancy, but they also warmly accepted her.

“I thought they would kick me out of the house. I thought they would be very angry but not once did they raise their voice. They’re very disappointed, but they talked to me. They asked me if I loved the father and if I’m ready for this,” Denise recalled.

The young actress is thankful for the love and support her family gave her in her trying moments.

“Balik-baliktarin mo man ang mundo, ang pamilya mo nandyan para sa ‘yo. My family has always been there for me.

“Never-ending love. Not even thank you is enough. They love my so much and I’m just so thankful that I have people in my life like them because they have shown me what it is to love,” Denise recounted through tears.

She added that she never thought her pregnancy was a mistake as she thinks her baby is a blessing.

“The moment I found out, actually, the first thing that came to my mind was napaaga because I wanted to be pregnant at 27. Everybody knows how much I love babies. Lahat ng buntis kinakausap ko, how does it feel? I have always loved kids,” Denise shared.

Who's the father?

Denise refused to name who the father of her baby is as he is not from showbiz and shared that they are still together.

“He’s not an actor, he’s not a [showbiz] personality. In respect sa pamilya niya ‘di ko na lang sasabihin ang pangalan niya. Yes, we’re still together, he provides for his family. He’s a great father. We’re just working on things as they come along,” Denise said.

She also said that they are not yet married and the father of her baby proposed to her five times.

Showbiz comeback

Denise was at the peak of her career and was playing a major role in a TV series when she got pregnant.  Fame did not come easy for Denise, as it took long before she made a breakthrough in showbiz.

“Ang tagal kong nasa this industry. For 13 years everybody was always telling me, bakit ang bagal bago ka sumikat, bakit ang tagal hindi ka pinapakanta, bakit ‘di ka mabigyan ng lead role? People were always asking and I would say the same thing, “In God’s time,” Denise said.

Despite the interruption in her career, Denise does not have any regrets. She has just made her showbiz comeback by guesting  in ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ last Saturday.

“Now, if God gave me a taste of what I want, I got a taste of it. I really worked hard and I loved every part of it, so there’s nothing to be sad about. I’ve met so many wonderful people. I got to work with Direk Rory (Quintos), Direk Cathy (Molina-Garcia), Raf (Santos).

“There’s no regrets, what’s to say I can’t work again?,” Denise said.

Why did she reveal her pregnancy only now?

“Para masagot ko ‘yung mga tanong. I have to answer for myself. I want to do it na hindi magulo ang sitwasyon, face everybody openly, happy and show everyone how I feel to be completely honest,” Denise  replied.

Denise has denied rumor that she went to the US when she became pregnant.

“I don’t’ know where the whole States thing came from but I went on vacation. But, I just feel like it was the time I wanted to enjoy, be peaceful. I wanted to be positive and I wanted my baby to grow in love so I want to be surrounded with positive people,” Denise said.

Now, Denise feels so happy and fulfilled as a new mom. “Very overwhelming. When I held him in my arms, the world was still and everything was perfect,” Denise shared.
