DBSK Could Have Been Called ‘The Internal Organs’; Big Bang, Diamond
A list of idol groups and members and what could have become their official stage names is attracting much attention among Korean netizens.
Recently on an online community site, a posting was made with the title ‘Idol’s original stage names’.
Included was a list of idol groups and members and their amusing, and some downright hilarious, stage names that they could have made famous.
In Super Junior, Leeteuk’s originally planned stage name was revealed to be ‘Kang Soo’ as the name was similar to Leeteuk’s real name, Park Jung Soo. In addition, members Shindong could have become ‘Udon’, Kangin ‘Woongdam’, and Kyuhyun ‘Kweehyun’.
Many idol groups also originally planned to debut with different stage names with Big Bang originally being called ‘Diamond’ and the Wonder Girls’ at one point considering the group name LC, short for ‘Ladies Club’.
Within Big Bang, T.O.P’s stage name was originally conceived as ‘Mark’, Daesung as ‘Big Castle’, Seungri’ as ‘Sonic’ and Taeyang as ‘Taekwon’.
The Wonder Girls members also were considered some unusual names and the member we know today as Sohee could have been ‘IC’, Yenny as ‘Silver’ and Sun as ‘Berry’ while former member Hyuna originally considered the stage name ‘Silver’.
Among the Shinhwa members Jun Jin’s stage name selection included ‘Lee Gi Go’, Lee Min Woo’s ‘Parang’ and ‘Taeyang’ while one of Kim Dong Wan’s final candidate stage names was ‘Ato’.
Perhaps most amusing of all, the group we now know today as TVXQ (DBSK) was once considered the name ‘Oh Jang Yook Boo’ off of the Chinese characters ‘五臟六腑’ meaning ‘internal organs’ as well as the group name ‘Dong Bang Bool Peh (東方不敗 ) meaning ‘the invincible East’.
Netizens commented saying, “IC is really funny”, “How fascinating” and “Lee Min Woo could have been Taeyang!”
