Channing Tatum wants to be friends with his children.
The star and his actress wife Jenna Dewan, both 32, announced last week that they are expecting their first child together.
Channing is excited about the baby.
He hopes to establish an open and fun relationship with his son or daughter.
“Hopefully I will be the cool dad,” he told People.
“I want to be a buddy.”
Channing is People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive this year.
Apparently the actor’s buddies are all having a laugh at his expense about the title.
“My friends are never going to let me live this down,” he smiled.
Channing recently told the publication he was looking forward to fatherhood.
“I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” he said.
Asked how many children the couple would like to have, he first said “three”.
“But I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that,” he added.
Channing and Jenna, both 32, married in 2009 after meeting on the set of 2006 dance movie Step Up.
