    Be brave in white swimwear

Every so often a trend comes around which seems so outlandish it’s doubtful anyone will ever wear it. White swimwear is a contender for that category this season.

Michael Kors sent models down the runway in bright white swimsuits, accessorised with brown straps which were also wrapped around the body.

Angelo Marani showed a pretty white costume which had a sweetheart neckline and halter straps, as well as low legs. The fabric was laser cut with diamonds to give it a bit more interest, while Max Azria went all out with a version featuring huge cut-out panels. The label also created a white bikini, with matching mesh cover up.

While these costumes looked fantastic on the leggy models, whose limbs were smothered in shiny moisturiser, for normal women it’s a whole other ball game.

White is a notoriously tricky colour to wear. If you do fancy giving it a go make sure you’ve lathered yourself with fake tan beforehand, as there’s no hue capable of making you look more washed out.

It’s also important to take into account the way white changes when hit with water – if you don’t fancy giving other beachgoers a cheeky flash it’s probably best to steer clear of a refreshing swim in the sea. Save pale costumes for sunbathing only.

That’s not to say white bikinis can’t look fantastic – pair them with a big sunhat and some funky beads, and you have a show stopping look worthy of any model.
