Bong to Jolo: You have to be happy

Does father knows best?

In Sen. Bong Revilla’s case, the answer could very well  be a resounding  yes.  The senator from Cavite, known for his colorful love life, must be talking from his rich experience when he took eldest son Jolo aside and advised him: “Importante masaya ka.  At kung sino man ang mamahalin mo,  mahalin mong tunay.”

Bong revealed that he gave these words of wisdom to Jolo, who is now more open about his feelings for rumored girlfriend Jodi Sta. Maria.

The senator has no objections with Jodi.  In fact, he finds her “a very nice person.”  Bong even likes her  perky character in the top-rating teleserye “Be Careful with My Heart.”

“Masang masa,” Bong observes.

But advice is all he’s willing to give to his lovestruck son at this point.“Hindi ako nakikialam sa relasyon nila,” the lead star of the Metro Manila Filmfest entry “Si Agimat, Si Enteng at Ako” says.

With the year coming to a close,  Bong is looking forward to a busy 2013.  He has gladly volunteered to be the campaign manager of wife Lani Mercado, Jolo and  brother Strike Revilla.

Bong knows his family is building a political dynasty in Cavite.  But he remains unfazed.

“Kung maganda naman at nagsisilbi sa bayan, there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Still anti-RH bill

As for losing his battle against the RH (Reproductive Health) Bill, Bong has this to say, “We have to respect the decision.  Alam nyo naman kung bakit ayaw naming mag-asawa sa RH  bill.  Ayaw naming mangyari sa ibang tao ang nangyari sa amin, lalo na sa mga kababaihan.  Kung wala kang pera, lalong mamamatay ang bata. Nandon pa rin ang kurot sa puso ko sa pagkawala ng aming anak.”

The RH Bill, which has recently been passed in Congress allows women to have access to birth control methods.

But Bong has not lost hope since the case has not yet reached the Supreme Court.

“Pwede pa naman i-apela.  Malay mo, magbago pagdating doon,” he explains.
