American rockers The Black Crowes announced this week their plans to hit the road in 2013 with a world tour and release a live album titled Wiser for the Time.

The band plans to kick off its comeback tour in Manchester, UK, on March 24, 2013, followed by string of UK shows. The North American leg begins April 2.

Band members Chris Robinson, Rich Robinson, Steve Gorman, Sven Pipien and Adam Macdougall will be joined by Jackie Greene on guitar and vocals.

According to the band's website, Wiser for a Time will be released on vinyl and digitally the week before the tour kicks off, on March 19. The album will feature 26 songs from the band's sold-out five-night residency at New York's Best Buy Theatre in 2010.

The Black Crowes have been silent since their 2010 acoustic-based album Croweology, which sold 91,000 copies in the US according to Nielsen SoundScan.
