The wounds are still fresh. But the crying is over.

Bianca King is moving on after Dennis Trillo broke her heart when they split up almost six months ago.

“I was talking to my mom (who is based in Canada) every day through Skype. I needed to cry it out,” she recalls during a set visit for her upcoming drama on GMA 7, “Maghihintay Pa Rin,” which premieres on Monday, June 10.

‘Emotionally battered’

Her mom, explains Bianca, easily gets attached to her boyfriend and knows what’s going on.

“Even if she felt I was emotionally battered, she always reminded me that now is a good time to polish myself, to rid myself of all the superfluous matter in life. Now, I’m conserving my energy for people who really matter.”

Ogie Alcasid also came to the rescue. He took one good look at Bianca on the set of “Bubble Gang,” where she was a guest and saw the sadness in her eyes.

Ogie to the rescue

The Good Samaritan sat down beside Bianca and read a Bible passage. Ogie’s kindness was the signal for the dam to break. Bianca didn’t hold back the tears anymore.

Bianca also remembers breaking down even before her director shouted “Action!” because the pain was too much to bear.

But all that is over.

“I feel closer to people who really appreciate me, like my parents. I feel closer to God,” says Bianca.

Medical crises

The pain did not only come from her failed relationship. It also came from news that her dad had to undergo a quadruple bypass (he’s okay now, says Bianca) and her grandma has cancer. So she flew to Canada in January.

“I won’t deny that I had a major, major transformation the last six months,” she admits. “It was a huge turning point in my life. I was heartbroken before the eyes of the public.”

Lesser mortals could have caved under. But not Bianca, who is used to fending for herself for years since both her parents are in Canada.

Softer, more vulnerable

“Doon mo ma-appreciate ang lessons na tinuro sa ‘yo ng magulang mo. I learned to be independent even when I was still studying (she graduated from a film course at De La Salle College of St. Benilde).”

The most recent storms in her life, however, have mellowed her at 27.

Now, she describes herself as “softer, more vulnerable.”

“The person who broke my heart did me a favor,” she said.

Now less judgmental

Bianca is happy she has become more open and less judgmental. Bitterness has no place in her heart because she knows “lalo kang magiging talo.”

Yes, she is ready to fall in love again, but not that hard – yet.

Bianca is not yet that ready for a serious a commitment.

And if she can help it, she’d rather have a non-showbiz guy for her next boyfriend. As many actresses have noticed, the relationship is more peaceful, less stressful this way. You don’t have to move around as if you’re in a goldfish bowl.

If only for these lessons, Bianca is moving on.

Lists things she’s grateful for

“I’m reading ‘The Power,’ sequel to the global bestseller ‘The Secret.’ Now, I list 10 things I am grateful for. Naging mas appreciative ako sa mga tao. I realize all the wonderful things there is in life.”

The good vibes is paying off. After a few days of waiting, Bianca got a role close to home: that of a kind-hearted, compassionate person who loves deeply in “Maghihintay Pa Rin,” opposite Rafael Rosell.

“Binigay sa ‘kin ni Lord,” Bianca smiles.

Her sparkling eyes say the smile comes from her heart.
