Bianca Gonzalez is learning from her libel suit

To some, a libel suit could end one’s profession and credibility. But for Bianca Gonzalez, it’s part of the lessons she’s learning as a newspaper columnist and blogger.

“My writing wasn’t affected because my piece which is on the Philippine Star every Sunday is meant to be an inspiration and is a light read. From the start I knew that it’s a column on the profile of a person from 'hirap' to fame or from struggle to success. As long as I stick to that I think okay lang naman ako. At the same time I can’t be too safe kasi wala ng magbabasa. I’m learning,” shared Bianca.

She even thinks the libel suit Amalia Fuentes filed against her will make her a better host.

“I found it interesting kasi di ba I report showbiz on TV? Day in and day out, every week may mga kung sino-sinong nasasangkot sa kaso. So for me nagiging interesting kasi nalalaman ko na yung proseso. I mean what I report mas maiintindihan ko na..”

Bianca, who graduated with a Communication Arts degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, said her interest when she was in college was TV production. But when she started writing, especially her blog, she learned to love writing.

Creative writing course

In fact, even before the libel case came along, Bianca wanted to take up a Creative Writing course or something similar to it. But her schedule as host for ABS-CBN shows like “Pinoy Big Brother” or the now defunct late night showbiz talk show “SNN” prevented her from pursuing it.

“Siyempre it’s different writing on my blog. It’s different pag sa broadsheet parang may pressure na. Buti nga I have editors to edit me. I’ve always wanted to study,” she said.

Bianca added that the best thing about being a blogger, a columnist and now an editor at Meg magazine is that she’s getting paid for writing and learning at the same time.

Her hard work even earned her two awards, Yahoo! OMG! Awards’  Favorite Female TV Host and the Globe Tatt Awards 2012.

Bianca expressed: “Thank God for these blessings. I’m thankful that people are always believing in me. I love my work and these awards add to my satisfactions and joys in sharing my God-given gift with everyone!”
