Bela Padilla: Of love life and a 'spicy' 2012

While Bela Padilla admits she is seeing poker player Neil Arce, she says she is taking her love life slowly as career remains her number one priority.

The star of the  GMA afternoon teleserye “Magdalena,” where she plays the title role admits she has become a workaholic  with little time for her love life.

“I think right now I’m one of the most driven people you’ll meet here in showbiz. I’m not saying it because it’s me, but because it’s a fact. I think I’m turning into a workaholic. Parang I can’t breathe when I’m not in taping. I really want to work, that’s why I didn’t expect na I would give even a little time to think about my lovelife. But when I did, it actually turned out well and I’m taking things slowly. This is still my number one priority,” Bela said at the party of GMA’s afternoon prime teleseryes in GMA compound on Monday, December 17.

Bela says Neil, fellow Kapuso star Maxene Magalona’s former flame, is also very busy.  But they’re happy with the way things are between them.

“It’s nice to have him around,” she relates.

2012 for Bela was “very spicy.” She made news by posing on the cover of FHM magazine, which some quarters thought were racist.

“I think 2012 for Bela was very spicy. It’s something that I am not used to but I can like. I was able to do things this year, which I thought I wouldn’t do, but the outcome was good. I was happy with the outcome. I’m very happy with what I achieved this year and I hope it gets spicier every year.”

The best of 2012

“Magdalena,” Bela adds, is the highlight of 2012 for her because it allowed her to showcase her acting talent.

“This is the best part of my year. When I’m given a project, we have one or two highlights sa show. In “Magdalena,” I’ve done so many scenes na I’m very proud of, yung tipong pwede kong ilagay sa archive ko. Here I get one every week, so I’m thankful to GMA because this is a heavy show. I get to showcase a lot of styles. Parang they push me to my edge.”

After her heavy drama role in “Magdalena,” Bela wants to do something less intense next year.

“I want to try a fantaserye. I’ve never done a fantaserye before. I want to try something light because in Magdalena, like what I said, we do 75 sequences a day and in all of those I’m crying so sana something light. Comedy or sitcom,” she said.
