Barbie gets birthday surprise from Derrick
Barbie Forteza’s 15th birthday was marked by a couple of firsts. It was her first time to receive flowers. “Luna Blanca” love interest Derrick Monasterio went to her house for the first time, and she celebrated her birthday with young patients of Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City last August 2.
In her interview with members of the media at PCMC, Barbie shared that her actual birthday is July 31st and she spent some time with her family at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati.
And she never expected Derrick to surprise her by coming over to visit her at home.
First bunch of flowers
“Si Derrick, nagulat ako kasi yun nga, pagkagaling namin sa Rockwell, hindi ko alam kinausap niya pala si Mama na ang gusto niya palang mangyari, hindi ko alam na pumunta pala siya sa bahay, tapos doon niya ibibigay yung gift sa may pintuan namin. Kailangan wala na siya. Eh, ang bilis namin, kaya nagsaktong nagpang-abot kami doon sa bahay.”
Barbie was surprised even more when she saw Derrick at home.
“Nakakatuwa kasi, ayun, nakabisita pa siya sa bahay for the first time. At saka first time kong naka-receive ng flowers from a guy,” she revealed.
Celebrating with children
Barbie also revealed that she’s not very much into celebrating birthdays. But if she would, she’d do it in a place where she can help out.
Barbie spent an entire afternoon with 75 young PCMC patients, for whom she held parlor games and a magic show.
“Sa birthday ko, gusto ko hindi lang ako yung masaya, gusto ko marami akong iba pang napasaya sa birthday ko,” she explained.
