Anne Curtis won’t go that far with 'Binoe' on screen

Anne Curtis has learned a lesson from Kris Aquino’s experience. And this is making her shy away from doing an intimate scene with  “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” co-star Robin Padilla.

“Knowing  how Ate Mariel (Mariel Rodriguez, Robin’s wife) feels about her husband, I understand,” Anne said after Century Tuna executives presented her as its endorser. “I’d rather not come to that extent to upset her. As a woman, I respect that.”

Anne was referring to a recent incident where a jealous Mariel returned her wedding ring to Robin after seeing his intimate scene with Kris on screen (Robin has appeased his wife since).

Anne said the scriptwriters of the teleserye are just as careful. They’re  veering away from any  intimate scene between Robin and any of his female co-stars.

Understanding the issue
“It’s understood.  We want to avoid anyone getting hurt,” added Anne.

The Kapamilya artist and her co-stars worked overtime and taped a year’s worth of episodes for the teleserye.

“Our respective schedules are a problem,” Anne said. “I have a daily show.  Ate Kris has a daily show.”

The daily noontime show, “It’s Showtime,” is facing tough competition, now that Willie Revillame’s “Wowowillie” has joined the race for the viewers’ attention. “Eat Bulaga!” has been lording over the noontime slot for years.

“All of us agree that we shouldn’t be competitive. We’ll just get stressed at mawawala magic ng show, 'yung kulitan,” added Anne who noted that since their show caters to the younger set, the challenge is to bring in older viewers.

The goal, she admitted, is to last as long as “Bulaga!”  But they’d rather do their own thing and not imitate the rival show.

“Just how many grand finals can you have?” asked Anne.

Her younger sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith might compete with Anne should she (Jasmine) decide to co-host “Wowowillie.”

That’s fine with Anne, “provided she doesn’t neglect her studies.”

The 18-year-old Jasmine, reports Anne, has already taken college entrance tests in the Philippines and her native Australia.

Jasmine and Sam
As for Jasmine’s rumored romance with Sam Concepcion,  Anne would rather not comment.

“She shares stories with me but I don’t impose. If I do, she’ll hide things from me.”

But the doting Ate likes Sam. “He’s a very nice boy,” Anne said.

But no amount of questioning from the press will make her comment further.

“I’d like Jasmine to learn things on her own.”

Meanwhile, Anne had ‘the best birthday ever” since her entire family flew from Australia to celebrate with her.

Anne’s smile faded though when she talked about her mom’s knee operation on Thursday, Feb. 21.

“My birthday wish is for my mom to have a successful operation so she can walk better,” Anne said.  And she’s positive she’ll get what she wants.

“God is good. I claim it.” With that, Anne is assuring herself – and everybody   – that there’s no need to worry. Her mom – and her family will pull through, as usual.
