Angeli Dione Gomez wins Miss Tourism International

The country’s winning streak in international beauty pageants continues with the recent crowning of  20-year-old Cebuana Angeli Dione Gomez as 2013 Miss Tourism International in Putrajaya, Malaysia on December 31, 2013.
 
Angeli bested 59 other contestants in the Malaysia-based beauty pageant, which aims “to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange.”

Miss Thailand Sunidporn Srisuwan is Miss Tourism Queen of the Year ; Miss Australia Sarah Czarnuch is Miss Tourism Metropolitan International ; Miss Dominican Republic  Michelle Torres bagged the Miss Tourism Global title while Miss Malaysia Thaarah Ganesan was proclaimed Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International.


Angeli is the fourth Filipina  to shine in an international beauty pageant in 2013, after Miss World Megan Young, Miss International Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Universe third runner-up Ariella Arida and Miss Supranational Mutya Johanna Datul.

Aside from Angeli, two other Filipinas have won the Miss Tourism International title -- Rizzini Alexis Gomez in 2012 and Maria Esperanza Manzano  in 2000.

According to Mutya ng Pilipinas administration officer Vicky Bugayong, Angeli will serve as Philippine ambassador for tourism in the Philippines and Malaysia. She is set to return to the country on Tuesday, January 7.
