All is quiet on the John Lloyd-Shaina front

After going through rough times in October 2011, John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are now in a happier, more peaceful place.

“Masaya naman at peaceful. Wala na (issues), may naririnig ba kayo? Tahimik na tahimik. Malakas ako sa Diyos, idinasal ko sa lahat,” Shaina said at the press conference for her new Kapamilya TV drama “Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo” with Jake Cuenca and Bangs Garcia on Thursday, March 29 at the  ABS-CBN compound.

John Lloyd and Shaina now respect each other more and realize how much they mean to each other.

“I can say na mas tumaas yung respeto namin sa isa’t isa. Siguro na-realize na namin yung worth ng isa’t isa. Mas alam na namin yung needs ko, yung needs niya. I can say na very, very blessed itong taon namin, so sana hanggang sa matapos ang taon na ito,” Shaina said.

More respect

She also shared that John Lloyd has gotten closer to her family, and he shows more respect to them, especially to her father.

“Definitely, mas natutuwa ako kasi mas nirerespeto na niya yung pamilya ko. Mas naipakita niya kung paano niya nirerespeto, lalo na yung tatay ko,” she revealed.

Shaina also dispelled rumors that she easily gets jealous of her boyfriend. She said that they understand each other’s work and that John Lloyd doesn’t give her reason to be jealous.

“I don’t think nabibigyan niya ako ng reason para magselos ngayon. Kung ano man yung nangyayari sa amin ngayon sa career, para namang baguhan kami para (hindi) namin malaman na parte iyon ng ginagawa namin,” she said.

The challenges they went through last year have made them change for the better. They find time for each other despite their busy schedules.

“Mas masaya ako sa mga bagay-bagay ngayon. Mas nakabuti, mas naging masaya, mas naging peaceful ngayon,” she said.

Shaina is happy that “Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo” will finally air starting April 16 on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold, as well as internationally via the TFC channel.

Since the series is set in the Middle East, Shaina, Jake and Bangs shot some scenes in Dubai, UAE and Qatar.

The series pairs Shaina with Jake for the second time (they first teamed up in “Rubi”).

Strong and independent

As  the strong, independent Sarah, Shaina says she can easily relate to her role.

“Pareho kami ni Sarah. Siguro ilang beses na akong nagkakaproblema, nadadapa, pero ilang beses naman akong tumatayo. So, pareho kami ni Sarah na fighter. The more you put me down, I’ll prove you wrong. Parang ganoon ako na lalaban kung lalaban,” she said.

“Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo,” directed by Manny Palo and Lino Cayetano, also stars Gloria Diaz, Sandy Andolong, Maria Isabel Lopez, Ronnie Lazaro and Nikki Valdez.
