LIVE CHAT: Aiza Seguera and Charice #powerof2

Aiza Seguerra and Charice have a lot in common.  Music is their overriding passion, and it has brought them figuratively and literally to places near and far.

Both started out early in the industry.  Aiza was only  four when she joined Eat Bulaga’s Little Miss Philippines.

Charice was 13 when she joined the talent show “Little Big Star.”

Aiza and Charice have signature songs that are theirs and theirs alone.  Aiza has Pagdating ng Panahon, which helped save a then sagging music industry. Charice has “Pyramid,” which hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 56.

Most of all, the two are not afraid to be themselves in a highly-visible and opinionated world like showbiz.

Aiza and Charice risked their respective careers when they – tacitly in the former’s case and openly in the latter’s case – admitted that they’re lesbians.  But this hardly affected their careers and the public still accepted them with open arms.  It is their talent, not their personal life, after all, that’s more important.

Aiza has turned music producer and Charice still travels around the world to perform.

Both are models of courage to young people who want to be themselves at the risk of rejection from family and friends.  And that’s why they’re called “The Power of Two” – to lead the way, to continue earning success and respect, despite the odds.

The kindred spirits will perform together for the first time at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday,  September 28.  They will jam as only two talented singers who understand each other can.

The rapport, plus the talent, will make them live up to the title of a show that has been long overdue.
