Aga to show different side in first TV 5 show

Although Aga Muhlach is uncertain how viewers will react to his first show for TV5, the 42-year-old actor is excited to showcase a different side of him.

“Hindi ko alam kung ano magiging reaksyon ng tao. But I'm happy because mas mapapalapit ako sa kanila. Mas makikilala nila talaga ako,” he told members of the press during his birthday send-off party last Wednesday, August 10.

After all, the show, “Pinoy Explorer,” signals a lot of firsts for the award-winning actor. For starters, it will require Aga to travel to different parts of the world every month. He will leave the country this Monday, August 15, to shoot the first episodes of the show.

And since he will act as the show's host, this will be Aga's first time to work on his own onscreen.

How did he prepare for the show?

“Ang paghahanda dun is just don't think about it. Basta pagsumakay ka ng eroplano, pag-alis mo rito, bahala na kung ano ang mangyayari dyan. It's just you and your crew. Dun lang ako naninibago, wala akong kasamang artista. This is the first time na ako lang, ano. Ako lang ang nasa camera, ako lang ang nagsasalita sa kanila. It makes it exciting for me kasi it's really new for me,” Aga said.

He added, “Nakakatuwa kasi may challenge ulit ako.”

Is Aga nervous to do such a major undertaking for his first project with TV5?

“More than kaba, mas naaatat ako at naeexcite na ipakita na because I want to experience it also,” he said.

Others projects?

“Pinoy Explorer,” he said, will not be your usual travel show, although he doesn't want to give any more details to keep the show a surprise.

“Ang feeling ko lang kung ano ang ini-expect nyo na gagawin ko, hindi ganun yun. Basta iba yung gagawin namin. It's not just, you know, ayaw namin syang maging basta traveler na... basta, marami. Maraming mangyayari sa show,” Aga explained.

In connection with the show, TV 5 launched a “Nasaan si Aga?” contest, where participants guess Aga's whereabouts to get a chance to win an iPad2 and an Asian adventure for two.

Aga refused to comment on rumors that he will host a noontime show for TV 5, saying he wants to fully concentrate on “Pinoy Explorer” this year.

“I'm with TV 5. It's a new experience for me. Different, really. Totally different. Yung suportang binibigay nila sa akin, gusto kong ibalik yun ng ten-thousand fold so gusto kong ibigay sa kanila yun,” he explained.

This means his latest movie—Star Cinema's “In The Name of Love” with Angel Locsin—will also be his last for the year.

“Alam mo minsan, it comes to a point na ano pa ba gagawin mo? Parang yun na lang ng yun? So yung paglipat ko sa TV5 is parang tamang tama because they're new, they're excited. So parang kahit ako, parang nabuhayan din ako,” Aga said.
