Xian admires Kim but doesn'’t court her

Currently playing as one of Kim Chiu’s leading men in primetime drama “My Binondo Girl,” Xiam Lim admits that his on-screen partner is very likeable and has the qualities he looks for in a girl. Xian, however, said courting Kim is not on his mind-set yet and added they would just likely remain as friends.

Xian and Kim, who are both Chinese-Filipino, have worked together before in previous TV dramas, but this is the first time that they are paired together on screen. The 22-year-old actor admits finding Kim as very pretty and likeable, but for him to pursue Kim seems to be a far-fetched idea for now as they’re both enjoying each other’s company as on-screen partners and just want to take things on a professional level.

“Si Kim, hindi naman mahirap magkagusto kay Kim. She’s very pretty, nice, everything you can ask for a girl. Pero, for now, I choose to focus on work,” Xian told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and some members of the press at the Star Magic Catalogue launch. The Star Magic Catalogue, which Xian and other Star Magic artists are featured, is now out in major bookstores.

Xian added that love life can take a backseat for now as his current focus is his acting career. Kim also said in a separate interview that she doesn’t have time for love life for now as she is busy with her showbiz commitments.

“I just want to focus on work. I’m pretty sure she also wants to focus on work din,” Xian said.

It’s been months since the two have been working on their primetime drama. While the press was interviewing Xian at the launch, their fellow cast Matteo Guidicelli teasingly revealed that Xian surprised Kim on the set with a life-sized teddy bear.

“She wanted a really big life-sized teddy bear. She was talking to someone else and I just overheard. So, I looked for the teddy bear and I bought it for her. She said thank you and she was happy. And I’m happy na she’s happy ,” Xian said smiling as Matteo was teasing him.

As he made an effort to surprise Kim, isn’t this also a gesture of pursuing her?

“No, no, no. I just overheard kasi. Syempre naman gusto ko masaya kaming lahat and seeing her happy makes me happy, too. The casts and staffs were amazed because it was so big. I’m just showing how great a friend she is. Ganoon lang,” Xian explained.

Xian shared that his admiration and respect for Kim has been the same ever since they met as the young actress hasn’t changed and remains real and friendly.

“Nothing has changed. I’ve been seeing her halos everyday for the past months and parang kapag nakikita ko siya, parang siya pa rin yun. She’s a real person. May mga taong fake, hindi pinapakita yung tunay na sila, may front lang, but Kim is nothing like that. She’s always smiling,” Xian said.

Xian and Kim get a lot of good feedback from the viewers because of their sweet on-screen chemistry. Xian also admits that he also gets giddy and happy when working with Kim, which also reflects when the camera starts to roll.

“Kahit naman ako, kapag natatabi ako kay Kim, talagang kinikilig rin ako eh. That’s probably why iyon ang nakukuha nilang impression. I’m just really amazed by her personality, then kapag nakuha na ng camera, maybe dun nagre-reflect,” Xian quipped.

He is also happy that more people are recognizing his acting performance in the primetime drama, playing as the nice and responsible Andy Wu. Xian added that he studies his character very well, especially that he’s one of the leads.
“It’s a karangalan. Masarap na finally mare-recognize ng tao yung kakayahan mo, yung capacity mo and I know I can show more. Sa taping, exciting kasi every time they give us scripts, I want to see kung ano pang twists and turns ang mapapakita sa story and yun I’m just really happy na natatanggap ng tao,” Xian said.

Aside from Kim, Xian also developed a close friendship with other “My Binondo Girl” casts such as Matteo Guidicelli and Jolo Revilla.

“I guess our relationship really grew. All four of us sa set. I guess we’re all comfortable with each other and our friendship grew from seeing each other constantly. I can definitely say we’re all solid friends,” Xian said.
