Karylle on rumored romance with Yael: I just don't want to overshare

Rumors that Karylle and Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon are an item have persisted even after the singer-actress left the country to do “The Kitchen Musical” for four months. This has even prompted members of the press to ask Yael during a recent presscon if they are simply keeping the media guessing.

But according to the star of the Pan-Asian musical series, she simply doesn't want to overshare.

“Hindi lang kami nagde-define publicly because, siguro, it's just something I don't want to overshare,” Karylle told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! in recent interview. “Because one question leads to another and, before you know, you've dug yourself into a hole.”

Karylle added she has already “lived the whole experience of the worst that can happen” and would rather avoid that from happening again.

“Shame on me naman if I didn't learn my lesson,” she said.

Another reason why the star of “The Kitchen Musical” has been mum all these months: her love for gossip.

“I myself am a self-confessed... hindi naman tabloid junkie, pero my secret shame talaga is tsismosa ako. I love really all the gossip sites,” she explained. “And I think it would be a shame if I read all those gossip and didn't learn anything from it.”

Still, Karylle said she isn't completely silent about the rumored romance.

“Hindi rin naman ako naging kuripot because I've written my own songs. So, somehow, if you're wise, you'll find the answers in the music,” she said.

Back in the country after doing “The Kitchen Musical” in Singapore, Karylle said she's more excited than pressured with the airing of their Pan-Asian series.

“It's fun because I've always dreamed of being in a musical,” she said. “So this is a challenge but it's dream kasi. This is everything I've always wanted to do. It's something that hindi naman ako nahihirapan masyado kasi maraming naggui-guide sa akin.”

Karylle said she's more than willing to go back to Singapore to tape a second season of the musical series.

“Of course we're all praying for (a second season). I myself, I really want to do it. I've already set my mind na babalik ako dun. I've opened a bank account in Singapore. But just crossing my fingers but who knows,” she shared.

Karylle added the concern that leaving the country might jeopardize her local career is merely an "outside question."

"It was constantly a question na aren't you afraid your fans are going to forget you, are you afraid na you're gonna lose your career in Manila. So syempre when people introduce that question to you, the fear comes in. But naooverpower pa rin sya ng masaya ako kasi ito yung ginagawa ko. Di ba, what they always say is, when you're doing something you love, it's never work. It's just you being you. So the fear dies down," she explained.

Is she an eyeing an international career after doing the show? Karylle said it's not a priority—but she's ready to take on whatever opportunities that will come her way.

She added, “We always want to bring it outside especially yung mga original things. But ang pinaka-concrete ko is I want to do music festivals in Europe with my band. Yun yung pinakadati ko pang dream.”
